The 5 Pillars of Islam

Updated: Jan 5

The five pillars of Islam represent the fundamental acts of worship and practices that form the core of a Muslim's life. Here is a detailed explanation of each pillar:

  1. Shahada (The Profession of Faith)

The Shahada is the declaration of faith which consists in saying and firmly believing that "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is His prophet". This profession of faith is the first and most important pillar, affirming the belief in the oneness of God and the prophetic role of Muhammad.

  1. Salat (Prayer)

  1. Zakat (Obligatory Alms)

  1. Sawm (Fasting of the month of Ramadan)

  1. The Hajj (Pilgrimage to Mecca)

These five pillars form the essence of the practice of Islam and are acts of devotion to Allah.
